We are at the time of year when people are thinking about celebrations, whether this is a Halloween get together, a family bonfire night or the ultimate celebration of Christmas.

Christmas trees are often the focal point of anyone’s Christmas decoration and many people lovingly spend time picking their Wellingborough Real Christmas Trees from www.welfordchristmastreefarm.co.uk/ before taking it home and decorating it. When it comes to decorating the tree, I am very much a traditionalist and often have my tree decorated with red, gold and green baubles, tinsel and some bead garlands all topped off with the gold star on the top. I thought perhaps this year I might mix things up a little bit and look at other ideas for decorating my tree, so I went on an internet and found so many than I liked that I will have to buy more trees this year!

Here are some of my favourites.

Minimalist trees have been popular for a few years with people placing some single coloured lights on the tree and a star or fairy on the top with no other decorations. These trees look very elegant located in a hallway or an office.

Winter wonderland colour schemes are always popular alternatives to the traditional red and green with people choosing frosty whites and silvers for the colours of their tinsel, baubles and the tree is often topped with a silver star. Combining this look with some clear glass icicles hanging from the tree and perhaps a tree skirt in a white and silver faux fur design would create a beautiful snowy feel to your tree and overall decorations.

Crystal blue decorations and other pastel colours are tipped to be popular this year. With a mixture of pastel shades, metallic darker shades and silvers in matte, metallic and glittery finishes adorning the tree. The crystal blue colours are popular as they help to create an icy effect when mixed with the silvers.

Woodland inspired themes are also going to be popular in Christmas 2018 with many stores who have already started displaying their ornaments having within their collection items with hedgehogs, squirrels and owls available. Other decoration items such as reindeers, stags and penguins and polar bears are other popular items for people to have displayed in their homes with the options available ranging from those with LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights inside to those covered with a velvet style material finish.

Do you have a particular style that you decorate your tree in ever year or any other Christmas traditions?
