Henry the Eighth had a lot of wives. 6 Six to be exact and he was not happy with any of them. He even created the Church of England because the Pope wouldn’t let him divorce the first one. This was mild compared to what he did to the second and fifth wives. However, there was one girl, his third wife Jane Seymour, who he did like. She was his favourite and she comes from Wiltshire. It’s no surprise. As Wiltshire Park Homes owners will tell you the county is very fair and if you go to http://www.parkhomelife.com/our-parks/blunsdon-abbey-park-homes-swindon-wiltshire/ you will soon see why.

Jane is born in Wulfhall and, if you follow the TV adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s trilogy, you’ll see that he was set up to be with her by the Machiavellian machinations of Thomas Cromwell. She was born into a noble line and was Henry’s fifth cousin. There is nothing like keeping it in the family, she also shared the same Grandmother as Anne Boelyn and Catherine Howard (the beheaded wives as it turned out).

She was said to be very gentle and very pale which suited the rambunctious fiery red headed Henry who was still yet to become the very portly monarch his later years would see. He courts the girl and they are wed. Sadly she dies in childbirth. She is the only one of his Queens to be given a Royal funeral and he is buried next to her.
